The Annual General Meeting of the Board of Directors and active members of CFA Association Russia was held at the Sberbank office in “Romanov Dvor”.

A new Board of Directors was announced at the event. In addition to the nine active members (A. Teplitsky, D. Sitnikov, D. Ryabykh, M. Harlashkina, M. Shestakova, N. Sorokina, O. Zagvozdkina, V. Tutkevich, N. Withers), the event welcomed four new members: Ivan Belyaev, Anton Shpuntov, Peter Kadish and Gokce Tezel.

Also, several stakeholders of CFA Russia attended the gathering and could join BoD-2016. Together, the participants summarized the results of 2014 and discussed their ideas and plan for the coming year.

Anton Shpuntov started by proposing ways to increase the perceived value of CFA Charter:

  • Promotion of prestigious image and professional value of CFA charters among students from different Russian cities.
  • Providing participants with access to international CFA networks and opportunities for cooperation with other certified experts, along with creation of an in-house professional community.
  • Collaboration with universities in raising awareness of CFA programs with the goal of increasing the number of candidates interested in enhancing their professional skills and reputation through CFA Charter.
  • Regular meetings with industry professionals who emphasize the importance of CFA Charter experience in the success of their organizational and personal career.
  • Working with human resources managers and recruiters using thematic meetings, career days, and trainings.
  • Development of “Knowledge and Competence Center” in the financial sub-sectors, including banking, insurance, investment management, etc.
  • Establishment of a “Career Development Committee” who will maintain a database of CFA charter holders and help them build their careers.

In addition to this, Dmitry Ryabykh presented “CFA Educational Strategy”, which addresses educational activities, such as cooperation and partnership with universities, events and business meetings with leading experts from various fields, workshops, lectures, student competitions, webinars, and online broadcasts.

In Ryabykh’s opinion, these should be the main objectives of the CFA Association Russia in 2015:

  • Regular courses and workshops on existing and new topics, such as "Practical Business Valuation” and “Financial Modeling in Excel”
  • On-site preparation courses for CFA exam
  • Introduction of modern technical tools, including recording, broadcasting and publishing activities, and site upgrades with a separate education section
  • At least 8 universities participating in the CFA Research Challenge
  • No less than 20 events held annually in webinar format

In addition, Peter Kadish talked about possibilities of cooperation between CFA Association Russia and Moscow Stock Exchange in promotion of GIPS standards in Russia.

During his turn to speak, Ivan Belyaev mentioned the need to introduce, promote, and maintain a CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

At the end of the meeting Vladimir Tutkevich presented a report on events in the 2nd quarter of 2014, which can be seen here.
