This year, on May 22, 2010, CFA Association (Russia), together with Kaplan Schweser, organized the Live Mock CFA Exam in the center of Moscow! For the first time ever, CFA candidates in Moscow had the opportunity to rehearse the six-hour exam in an environment, most closely imitating the real exam conditions.

Over 100 candidates who registered for the mock exam started arriving at around 8am in the morning of this warm and sunny Saturday. Exactly at 9am, the exam simulation was launched in two auditoriums of HSE, the Higher School of Economics, one of the most renowned educational institutions in Moscow. The exam lasted for a total of six hours, with a one-hour break between the sessions.

Surprisingly, the number of participants from each of the three exam levels was almost equal, and did not reflect the candidate proportions at real examination. The reason for this is yet to be reflected upon.

All candidates received a pack of materials prepared by Kaplan Schweser. The exam sheets most closely resemled the actual exam materials, and were based on Schweser preparatory materials. The main difference with the real exam was the possibility to self-grade the results at the end, and to know the result before the end of the day.

The Schweser Mock Exams are provided to CFA Societies around the World at no cost, so the net proceeds of all candidate registration fees go to the local Societies to help fund their programs over the coming year.

This proctored 6-hour classroom exam was consistent with the actual CFA® Exam topic weightings and follows the CFA Institute exam rules. After taking the mock exam, each participant received online access to SchweserMock.com with:

The CFA Association (Russia) is carefully examining feedback received from participants, and will make sure that future events are even more useful to CFA candidates.
