Based on the received feedback to our previous web-cast sessions, CFA Association Russia opened the new season with another web-cast event, which took place last Friday, September 14, 2007, at 10:00, in the building of the International Finance Corporation in Moscow.

The topic of the event was

"Private Equity Today: Realities of a Mature Market",

which was part of the Wealth Management Conference of the CFA Institute earlier this year.

In the webcast presentation, Scott D. Steele, managing director at JMH Capital, discussed the following:

• Today's private equity market and how hedge funds have changed the landscape;
• Questions you should be asking the managers, and what they should be telling you;
• Evaluation of transactions: home runs and craters and how they got that way.

Session Topics: Alternative Investments

Scott D. Steele is a founding partner and managing director at JMH Capital . Previously, he served as a principal at Parthenon Capital and Electra Fleming Americas. Mr. Steele also served as a senior associate at Coopers and Lybrand and an associate at Heller Financial. He holds a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business.

The web-cast represented a recorded video presentation, accompanied with handouts to all participants.

After the lecture, around 20 participants had a brief coffee session, where notes and thoughts were exchanged. It was a good opportunity to get an update on current issues in the private equity, all in one brief session.
