Since 2018, CFA Association Russia and the National Association of Securities Market Participants (NAUFOR) are working together to promote CFA Institute’s Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) in Russia.

Around 75 percent of investment firms worldwide are GIPS verified. However, the situation in Russia is different, as the global standards are just entering into the discussion thanks to the cooperation of CFA Association Russia and NAUFOR.

During 2019, CFA Russia organized a few GIPS-related events, spreading the word about the advantages of getting verified. Slowly but surely, the work paid off with the first company agreeing to go through a GIPS verification early next year.

Anton Ryzhikov, head of CFA Russia’s GIPS committee, believes that although currently there are not many GIPS-verified companies in Russia, it only takes a few big players to start accepting the standards and then everyone else will follow suit.

GIPS are the ethical standards created by CFA Institute to ensure a trustworthy representation and disclosure of investment performance results. These standards help investment companies to bring more transparency and provide guidelines on how to calculate and present their investment results to their future clients.
